Abstract

Instructional leadership has become one of the most influential dimensions of school leadership in improving educational quality, teacher effectiveness, and student achievement. In the context of continuous educational reforms, school leaders are increasingly expected to foster collaborative cultures, promote professional growth, and implement evidence-based instructional practices that lead to sustainable school improvement. Despite numerous quantitative investigations examining the relationship between instructional leadership and organizational performance, limited qualitative studies have explored how teachers personally experience transformative instructional leadership within their daily professional practice. This study explored the lived experiences of teachers regarding transformative instructional leadership in advancing school improvement at Balintocatoc Integrated School. Employing a transcendental phenomenological research design, twelve (12) purposively selected teachers participated in in-depth semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's Seven-Step Phenomenological Method. The findings revealed that transformative instructional leadership extends beyond instructional supervision by creating an empowering environment characterized by trust, collaboration, continuous professional learning, innovation, and shared accountability. The study recommends strengthening instructional leadership development programs, collaborative professional learning communities, teacher empowerment initiatives, and sustainable school improvement frameworks that support educational excellence.
